We were all able to log in to the ChromeBooks and find our challenge for the lesson on Google Classroom. There have been lots of cheers and happy faces as we have been successfully learning our new skill in our Computing lessons.
In our Computing lessons over the last couple of weeks, we have been learning about the parts of a laptop and found and named the screen, the keyboard and the mouse. We learnt how to switch the ChromeBooks on, how to log in to them using our own individual usernames and passwords and how to turn them off. We were all able to log in to the ChromeBooks and find our challenge for the lesson on Google Classroom. There have been lots of cheers and happy faces as we have been successfully learning our new skill in our Computing lessons.

Today we spent time exploring some of the old toys that are in our Grandma’s Kitchen role play area. We thought carefully as we played them about the materials that they were made from and some of the ways that they are different to our toys today. We noticed that none of the old toys used electricity like our video games do today and that lots of the pieces for the board games were made from cardboard and metal rather than plastic. This afternoon we enjoyed watching the Rock Steady bands performing the songs that they have been learning in their lessons with James. We had a great time and loved singing along. Well done to all of the performers. This week in Science and PSHE we have been learning about some of the external and internal parts of our bodies and why our body needs these. We had a great time drawing around one of our friends on a big piece of paper and working in groups to label the different parts of the body. We then cut out some of the major internal body parts / organs and stuck these onto the correct places on our bodies. I hope you all having an exciting and fun-filled Easter holiday. Our classroom is ready for our new topic. Can anyone guess what we might be learning about? We have a Grandma's kitchen role play area, some old artefacts to explore and some old games to play with our friends and sell in our toy shop. After looking at the different fruits in the story of Handa's Surprise, today we worked really hard to design and make our own delicious and colourful fruit salads. Before we started, we thought about the things we needed to do to keep safe and hygienic. We washed our hands, took off our watches, rolled our sleeves back and tied our hair up. We also learnt about the bridge cut, the claw cut and the fork secure cut to keep our fingers out of the way and safe. We had to choose and use a range of tools and equipment to help us to make our fruit salad. We carefully used a peeler to peel the skin off of the fruits and a knife and a chopping board to carefully cut and shape the fruits into small pieces to make our healthy fruit salads. This week we have been looking at Giuseppe Arcimboldo's interesting and unusual artwork. We noticed that from a distance, his portraits looked like normal human portraits, however, when we looked closer they were actually made using lots of individual objects that were overlapped to make the shape of a human. We then imitated his style of artwork to make our own fruit faces. They were so creative - some of our fruit faces even had earrings! Today we walked to Saint Nicholas Church in Overstone to Baptise Baby Nellie. During the service Reverend Katrina made a cross on Nellie's forehead using holy oil and poured water over her head to welcome her to God's family. At the end of the service, Nellie received three gifts - a candle, a children's Bible and her Baptism certificate. |
