Our final activity of the day was the Superworm Trail. We did a fantastic job of following the directions and looking for all of the animals along the way. We worked as a team to make sure we had spotted everything on the trail, read all the signs and information about the different bugs in the story and collected all of the rubbings in our booklet.
After eating our packed lunches, we visited the cafe to cool down with an ice cream. They were delicious! Lots of us had funny blue tongues from the bubblegum ice cream. This morning we enjoyed a forest school session at Salcey Forest. We built dens and bridges, made hot chocolate on a campfire, made bows and arrows and pencils from sticks and enjoyed the rope swing and hammock. We had lots of fun! This week we have been practising our sewing skills and have designed and made our own minibeast hand puppets. Today we had a special Jewish visitor in our RE lesson. Mrs Elijah came to talk to us all about her religion and their weekly celebration of Shabbat. She showed us lots of different objects that they use in Shabbat and explained the meaning of them. We had to look for the Star of David on all the objects. Mrs Elijah recited some Jewish prayers in the Hebrew language and explained what they meant in English. She also taught us some blessings, we lit candles and even got to taste some special challah bread too. When we learnt about the Synagogue, we were fascinated by the Torah scroll. Today we looked at a real Torah scroll and learnt more information about it. We found out that it is the Holy Book for Jewish people and that it contains 613 rules that help them to live a good life as a Jew. We then made our own Torah scrolls with rules that keep us safe and happy at school. Today we took our butterfly pavilion onto the school field to release our five beautiful butterflies into their natural habitat. They were very keen to spread their wings and fly away. Today we finished our fantastic portholes by carefully drawing three animals that live on the Galapagos Islands. We used our knowledge of animals and their habitats to choose one that is found in the sky, one that is found on land and one that is found in the sea. |
