In Art, as part of our India project, we found out about Rangoli patterns and why they are created. We designed our own in our sketchbooks and then decided upon the ones that we would create on the playground using chalks. Here are the results!
In Science last week we planted seeds as part of our topic on living things. This week we have been watching them grow. We will continue to add pictures so you can see our results. On Wednesday 3rd May, Class 4 took part in a dance workshop. They learnt a dance linked to our topic of India. We hope to get the opportunity to show this later in the term. Yesterday in Computing, Class 4 started to created their short films. This involved writing a script and deciding upon the resources they would need. They then used an app called Stop, Motion Studio to take a series of photographs that would then run together as a short film. We will continue these next week and then show them to the class. On Monday we had a visit from Solve It. This is a charity run organisation funded by the Lottery. During the session we talked about making the right decisions, particularly when we find ourselves in a risky situation. We took part in group activities and shared our ideas. This week in Class 4, eight of our children in Year 5 have been taking part in Bikeability. This has involved them taking part in Level 1 and 2 of the course. Here they are taking to the road. Today we have been inventing our own playground games. Next week we will be writing the instructions to go with them.
Today we have been writing instructions. We had six activities set up on different tables and in our groups we had to move round and write one instruction for each. We had to think about the language features and our use of punctuation.
As part of our Indian experience, Laiba's parents made Class 4 a curry. To go with this they had vegetable and chicken rice and chicken and vegetable samosas. Everybody really enjoyed trying the food. Class 4 would like to say a very big thank you to them for this experience. |
