On Thursday December 9th, members of our school choir walked up to the church in Overstone to sing for local residents at their Christmas lunch. The children sang beautifully and they were rewarded with juice, biscuits, mince pies and Christmas crackers! They enjoyed to chatting to the residents after their performance. Everyone said that the children really added to the occasion and their singing got everyone into the Christmas spirit!
We held our Harvest Festival here at Overstone on Tuesday October 12th. During the afternoon, we held a Harvest tea party for people in the village and friends of the school. Our year 6 pupils served refreshments and enjoyed chatting with our guests and all the children performed their Harvest Festival pieces. We had such a lovely time and I was honoured to receive such complimentary feedback from our guests regarding the school and the wonderful hosting skills of our year sixes.
On Friday June 10th, we celebrated the 90th birthday of our wonderful Queen. Despite a very wet morning, the weather was kind to us as the rain stopped just in time for us to begin our entertainment. We were delighted to see so many people there both from our school community and from the local area. Thank you to everyone, including the local WI, who baked cakes for us to enjoy. The children sang and danced beautifully and we even had a visit from the Royal Family! Below are a few pictures from the afternoon.
Northampton Saints invited schools to take part in a recent project run by the club. Each school was given the name of a rugby player and a large wooden board. We were given the famous Edgar Mobbs (he even has a road near the ground named after him!!). We then had to decorate the board on which we illustrated Edgar's life. Pat Thompson, one of our governors, very generously gave her time to come in and work with the children and the results can be seen in the photograph below. The board will be displayed at the ground for all to see and admire.
Mrs Mardell. Thank you to all pupils who kindly donated unwanted shoes for the children of Syria. Isobel kindly delivered them to JoJo Maman Bebe on Saturday October 17th and they were very gratefully received. In true Overstone spirit, it is lovely that our pupils are always keen to help others. Thank you Isobel for organising the collection.
Our year 6 children did a brilliant job as hosts of our harvest tea party. They served refreshments to local residents and entertained them with some interesting conversation and very original jokes! The whole school performed their harvest pieces and our visitors were then treated to some wonderful singing by the children.
