We have been busy learning the songs for our class Christmas production of Whoops a Daisy Angel. Please find below a link to a playlist of the songs with the lyrics on if your child would like to practise at home. Further information about costumes needed for each child's part will be coming home soon.

Today we learnt that there are two main types of trees. These are known as deciduous trees and evergreen trees. Evergreen trees are green all year round and usually have small, narrow, thick and waxy leaves. A deciduous tree has leaves which change colour and they lose their leaves in the winter. We went on a tree hunt around our school grounds to look at the two main types of trees. We had lots of fun playing in the brown and orange autumn leaves that had fallen off of the deciduous trees! We also found daisies, dandelions, poppies and wild mushrooms. In our English lessons we have been reading the story of Jasper’s Beanstalk. We used a story map to help us to re-tell the story and then worked in groups to perform the story using puppets. After we had practised our puppet shows, in our Computing lessons we learnt how to put in the code to unlock the tablet, find the camera App and record another group’s puppet show on a tablet. Scan the QR codes to watch our puppet shows. This week in Topic we have been learning about the different parts of a castle. After learning about why castles have arrow loops in the stone walls, we had a brilliant time defending our imaginary castle and learning how to shoot arrows. Today we planted our own beans just like Jack does in the story Jack and the Beanstalk. We will be measuring them each week and observing how they change as they grow. We thought about the four things that a plant needs to grow healthily (air, water, soil and sunlight) and have set up an experiment to see what happens to a bean plant if it doesn't have any water or sunlight. We closely observed flowering plants in our Science lesson today. We looked at the flowers, roots, stem and leaves and learnt that each part of the plant has its own special job to help to keep the plant healthy. Today we used play-doh and sticks to help us to make 3D shapes. The play-doh represented the vertices and the sticks represented the edges. Last week the children brought home their FOOPS Christmas card designs and order links which we designed back in September. Here are some photos of us having fun designing them. The funds that are raised through purchasing these will be used to benefit the school. If you would like to order any of the products available, please visit the online shop sforders.co.uk and use your child's unique personalised pin to view their design by Friday 12th November 2021. |
