The children danced really well at The Derngate on Sunday July 21st and we were incredibly proud of both of our Strictly teams. I now have the final results and I am delighted to let you know that our year 3,4 team came joint 4th out of 17 schools and were only .5 behind the medal winners. Year 5,6 finished in 5th place out of 22 schools, just 1 point behind the medal winners. The competition was extremely strong with many schools putting on very polished performances so both teams did extremely well. Congratulations to all of the dancers and thank you to the parents who were such brilliant supporters on the day.
On Tuesday July 9th, 6 of our pupils took part in a cycling event at The Bramptons. The course was challenging and the cyclists worked really hard to finish in 3rd place. The children showed such resilience and determination and they represented the school brilliantly. Well done to every one of them.
Some of our Year 5 and 6 pupils took part in a Kwik Cricket tournament in Guilsborough on July 4th. The sun was shining which we were very grateful for as this tournament had previously been postponed due to rain! The children played really well, improving with every over. They came 7th overall and showed great sporting values throughout. They were supportive of each other and played brilliantly as a team.
Great news; we have been awarded the Gold School Games Mark for the 4th consecutive year. Well done to everyone in school; pupils, staff and parents for your hard work and support with our PE and School Sport this year. It is due to this that our school has been recognised as having great provision for our children.
Our year 5,6 team qualified for the High5s Netball County Finals after playing brilliantly in the district competition. The finals took place at Sponne School in Towcester on Thursday June 6th. It was an exciting competition which was centred around the Netball World Cup. The actual world cup was there at Sponne for us to see! The team played really well and finished in 6th place; a great achievement as the district competitions will have started with around 80 schools competing. Well done to team Overstone!
On Tuesday June 4th, some of our Year 5 and 6 pupils played in a basketball tournament at Moulton College. There were county players included in some of the teams and the standard was high. Our children played really well together and finished 3rd overall. Well done basketballers!
On Tuesday June 4th, our Year 3,4 Gymnastics team took part in the County Finals over at Matrix Gym Club. They had done brilliantly to qualify from their district event and they all worked so hard on their vaults and on their body management and floor routines. Our gymnasts were amazing and represented the school brilliantly, finishing 3rd at county level which is amazing!
On Wednesday May 1st, some of our Year 3 and 4 children travelled to Moulton Sports Centre to play Quicksticks Hockey. We took two teams to the tournament and there were 11 teams competing in total. It was lovely to watch the play improve as the teams progressed through the event. One of our teams finished in 7th place and the other team finished 3rd after winning their pool to reach the finals. The children played brilliantly in their teams. Congratulations to them all!
Some of our Year 3 and 4 children are enjoying weekly coaching sessions at Overstone Park Golf Club. The club runs a scholarship programme for their youth section and we are delighted to be part of this. Here are some photos from the first session.
Two teams of Year 5,6 pupils played in a netball tournament at Moulton on Thursday April 4th. Both teams played really well on what turned out to be a rather chilly evening! 8 teams took part in the competition and one of our teams finished in 6th place. The other team won all of their pool matches and the semi final. In the final, they had all of the play but for some reason, none of their shots would go through that ring! After full and extra time, the game ended in a penalty shoot-out and we finished runners up! Due to the excellent play by the team, we have still been asked to represent the district in the County Finals which is excellent news! Well done to all the children who played.
