On Saturday, we took part in the year 3,4 Strictly event at The Deco Theatre in Northampton. The children had to learn and perform a waltz and a jive. The jive is really fast and incredibly challenging for such young novice dancers. All their hard work certainly paid off and the children finished in 3rd place, bringing back bronze medals and another lovely shiny glitter ball trophy for the cabinet! Best of all, the dancers were so enthusiastic and supportive of each other and they had great fun. We look forward to the finals on June 26th at the Derngate when both our year 3,4 and our year 5,6 teams will compete.
On Tuesday March 15th, some of our year 4 and 5 children took part in a dodge ball tournament at Moulton Secondary School. The event was great fun and the children played brilliantly, showing some excellent team work and great tactical skills. There were 9 teams in the tournament in total. One of our teams finished in 4th place and the other finished 7th. Well done to everyone who took part.
On Tuesday March 8th, 8 of our year 5 and 6 pupils travelled in the school mini bus to Daventry Leisure Centre to take part in a swimming gala. Each swimmer took part in an individual race and two relays. It was such an exciting afternoon which involved lots of swimming and lots of loud cheering! The children did really well and represented the school brilliantly. A special mention to Leo who won his 25m butterfly heat, Tom who won his 25m freestyle heat and Ini who finished 2nd in her 25m breaststroke heat. The whole team supported each other so well and their sportsmanship was actually commented on by another school. Well done to all of them for demonstrating those sporting values so brilliantly.
Following their success in the district competition, our year 3 and 4 gymnasts travelled to Matrix Gym Club on Tuesday March 1st to take part in the County Finals. They all worked so hard and performed their body management and floor routines and their vaults beautifully. They came home as bronze medallists after finishing 3rd in the County competition which is such an amazing achievement.
On Wednesday February 23rd, some of our Reception and Key Stage 1 pupils took part in a superhero athletics festival at Moulton Sports Hall. They had a great time and represented the school brilliantly.
On Tuesday February 8th, we took part in two cluster gymnastics competitions at Lings Sports Centre. Our two year 3,4 teams performed brilliantly and finished in first and second place which was excellent. Our two year 1,2 teams also performed brilliantly and finished in 6th and 2nd place. A huge well done to all the children who took part.
Our year 5,6 football team qualified for the County Finals following their success at the district event. At the finals, they played brilliantly, winning all their pool matches and not conceding a single goal which was fantastic. They played so well as a team and showed excellent determination and passion for the game. As the winners of their pool, the team then played the runners up from the other pool. This was a close game which the team lost 1-0 as the opposition were awarded a penalty. Overstone then played again to decide the 3rd and 4th positions and won that game so finished 3rd overall in the county. What an amazing achievement! The children won every game they played except one, only conceding one goal (a penalty) in the entire tournament. Well done Team Overstone!
On Wednesday January 12th, 19 of our year 3 and 4 children travelled to Moulton Sports Complex to take part in a sportshall athletics competition. The children competed in a variety of track and field events and they finished in 3rd place which was amazing. They all enjoyed taking part and cheering (very loudly!) for their team mates.
Some of our year 5 and 6 pupils travelled in the minibus to Guilsborough on Friday January 7th to take part in an orienteering competition. They all did an amazing job of using their mapping skills to locate the hidden letters. Well done to Maisie, Harriett, Isla and Lilah who worked brilliantly as a team and won the event, bringing home a medal each.
On Tuesday November 30th, Mrs Viney and I took 15 key stage 1 children to an athletics festival at Moulton Sports Complex after school. The children were all very excited to attend; the excitement started with the journey in the mini bus! They listened so well to the instructions and showed some excellent athletics skills too.
