Layla brought her pet snail into school to show her friends. Rocker is an albino African land snail and Layla did a great job of explaining how to care for her and what makes her a great pet to have. What an interesting pet!
As part of our Stone Age topic work, we tried to put ourselves in the shoes of the people who lived in Britain during the Stone Age. We discussed what they may have used to help them to survive and what dangers they might have faced. We found bushes and trees for shelter, wood for making a fire and berries to (possibly) eat! We thought that we could also make tools and weapons using stones and sticks that we could find too. The only thing we struggled to find was fresh water to drink. We had a fantastic time designing and creating our own Greek pots. As part of our English this week, we have been looking at the structure and language features of instructional writing. What better way to do this, than to follow a chocolate chip cookie recipe? Year Four made story jars for their homework last week. What wonderful creations! We enjoyed coming to school dressed as characters from our favourite books. We talked about our costumes and shared the books we'd brought in. At lunchtime, some of us chose to go to the library to take part in some activities organised by the library leaders. In the afternoon, we then went to Year 2 to read some books with them. We looked for pictures of Ancient Greek artefacts around the classroom. We then used the clues to work out which Ancient Greek God was represented on the artefact. We found Poseidon's trident, Athena's owl, Hermes' wings and Apollo's lyre. We enjoyed our first golf session at Overstone Golf Club this week. Brian Mudge taught us how to hold the club and start to swing! We can't wait for the rest of the sessions. As part of our PE unit, we have been creating our own games. We created obstacle courses and aiming at a target as part of the games. |
