We have been marking Science week with a celebration of simple Science which create cool experiments. The children have been getting hands on with making colours dance in milk and making rice dance on drums. We have also launched our school 'Eco-team' who have set a poster competition asking children what looking after the environment means to them. The library is set out with some amazing Science books and each morning our starter is a Science based thinking task. |

Year 2 wore some super costumes for World Book Day and really got into character! We enjoyed sharing our books with the children in year 4 in the afternoon too.
As we haven't got the real thing, we decided to try and make our own snow as part of a Science investigation.
We used four different recipes to compare which was the best at making fake snow. We all had different predictions yet agreed on the same conclusion which was that shaving foam and cornflour was the most realistic (although it was also a lot of mess!) What a wonderful 'piratey' day we've had.
To keep enthusiasm for our topic going, we welcomed the children back after half term with a day full of pirate themed activities. All of the children fully embraced and engaged in the day and left being able to talk, sing and work like a pirate. They even built their own floating ships using their knowledge of materials and cracked a code to uncover some delicious treasure. |
