This afternoon, as part of our PE lesson, we took part in the FOOPS sponsored speed bounce. Each child will be bringing home a red certificate with them this evening to share with you how many times they bounced in one minute.
This week in Science and PSHE we have been learning about some of the external and internal parts of our bodies and why our body needs these. We had a great time drawing around our friends on a big piece of paper and working in groups to label the different parts of the body. We then cut out some of the major internal body parts / organs and stuck these onto the correct places on our bodies. I hope you all have an exciting and fun-filled Easter holiday. Our classroom is ready for our new topic. Can anyone guess what we might be learning about? We have a Grandma's kitchen role play area, some old artefacts to explore and some old games to play with our friends and sell in our toy shop. We worked really hard at home to turn a strip of plain, white card into an amazing Easter bonnet for the FOOPS parade. Miss Cox was really impressed by our creative ideas and loved how different they all were. This week we looked at Giuseppe Arcimboldo's interesting and unusual artwork. We noticed that from a distance, his portraits looked like normal human portraits, however, when we looked closer they were actually made using lots of individual objects that were overlapped to make the shape of a human. We then imitated his style of artwork to make our own fruit faces. They were so creative - some of our fruit faces even had earrings or beards! We have been very busy creating artwork inspired by African mud huts. We used oil pastels to draw the bright, colourful and repeating patterns and straw for the roof. Today we walked to Saint Nicholas Church in Overstone to Baptise Baby Rosie in a rather unusual outdoor and socially distanced service. During the service Reverend Katrina made a cross on Rosie’s forehead using holy oil and poured water over her head to welcome her to God's family. At the end of the service, Rosie received three gifts - a candle, a children's Bible and her Baptism certificate. Today we had an assembly and a taster session from the Chance to Shine Cricket Club. We had a fantastic time developing our throwing, catching and other cricket skills whilst playing games with our friends in the sunshine. There were lots of giggles in Science when we learnt about herbivores, carnivores and omnivores. We had to use our detective skills to see what was inside the pretend play doh poo samples to help us to decide which animal they might belong to. Sample A was from a herbivore. It had leaves and seeds inside. Sample B was from an omnivore. It had meat, bones, leaves and seeds inside. Sample C was from a carnivore. It had meat and bones inside. |
